Format

Multiple choice, all in English. Each correct answer is worth 1.25 points, for a score out of 100.

Memorising word lists without context
YDS tests words in sentences. We learn vocabulary in the patterns where it actually appears.

Translating word by word
Translation questions reward meaning, not single words. We train you to spot the matching structure fast.

Spending too long on reading
Reading is a large part of the test. A clear order of questions saves minutes for the end.

Ignoring linking words
Words like however, whereas and therefore solve many cloze and completion questions on their own.

Losing the topic in 'irrelevant sentence'
Track the main idea sentence by sentence and the odd one out becomes obvious.

YDS, e-YDS and YÖKDİL: a short guide
YDS, e-YDS or YÖKDİL?
All three are run by ÖSYM. YDS and e-YDS test general academic English; YÖKDİL uses texts from your field (health, science or social sciences). Check which exam your institution accepts before you register.

How is the score calculated?
There are 80 questions and each correct answer is worth 1.25 points, so the maximum is 100. Results are usually valid for five years, which is why a good score is a long-term investment.
How long should I prepare?
It depends on your current score and your target. A focused plan of a few weeks can lift your score noticeably; bigger jumps usually take a few months. The diagnostic in your trial lesson gives you a realistic estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Do you teach YDS in Turkish?
Yes. Turkish is my native language, so grammar and strategies are explained clearly in Turkish, with lots of timed practice in English.
Do you also prepare for e-YDS and YÖKDİL?
Yes. The question types are very similar, and for YÖKDİL we practise with texts from your academic field.
Do you guarantee a score?
No honest teacher can guarantee a score. What I guarantee is a clear plan, real exam practice and detailed feedback that shows you how to improve.
How much does YDS preparation cost?
A single 50-minute exam lesson is ₺1,600 and the trial lesson is ₺400. In the 30-, 60- and 90-lesson programs each lesson costs less, and timed mock tests with score estimates are included.
